Supernatural Fragment Supernatural Fragment

Rated 4 / 5 stars

In my eyes, the melody generally wasn't that interesting and original, but it became better towards the end. Something I really liked about this song was the drums. The fast double bass drum was neat, and there was enough variation in the song. This song is surely meant to be epic, but perhaps it would have been even more epic if it was a little longer? Other than that, a good song.

I have said it before, and I'm saying it again, you should really consider buying the full version of FL (or download it >:D) or try another prorgram, as I can easily recognize most of the sounds from other songs you've made (which makes it hard to distinguish them from each other, as well as some of them doesn't sound that good).

BallinFatty responds:

hey, havent heard a review from you in a while.
i've been wanting to buy the full version for a while now, im just sure if im ready, finacialy yet, or even how to. i've been trying to make new sounds using the presets and all that whatnot, but thats doesnt seem to be cutting it. also i wanted to make it longer, but the way i had it set up, i couldnt think of how to build from the ending point. the ending itself isnt how i was hoping it'd be, but whatev. i may come back to this sometime in the future, when i have the full version... XD

anyways, thanks again for the review, 8, and your time in listening!! :)

This one's different

This one was funny! Sounds a bit oriental-inspired. I missed one or two memorable melodies, as that's more or less what I need to find in a song to really like it. But the song has, as you've written in the comments, lots of variation in instruments. Nice drums around 00:50, for instance!

BallinFatty responds:

hey, you again!! as strange as it was, this one just came to me, out of nowhere, all at once. never had so much ease (or fun) making a song b4. i had a couple of issues, but other than that, im really not sure how i pulled this one off. first time in a while i've finished one from start to finish like that

anyways, thanks again for the review, 8, and your time in listening

Some of the parts in this song just blew me away. I'm giving this piece a 10/10 simply because of the great part starting at around 02:00, although the rest of the song was pretty neat.

I really think you should get the full version of FL studio, or another program (mine for instance), because I think you've got a lot of good melodies and rhythms but they would sound much better with more properly chosen instruments and samples. Like, you can draw nicely - you just need a better pencil... (that was a metaphor)

BallinFatty responds:

nice metaphor. i totally understand what u mean. i've been meaning to give your program a try, but i forgot what it was called... LLMS i think it was?? might have been 2 M's. if i knew how to get the full version of FL i would totally do it

anyways, i actually had a lot of fun making this one, it could've been better, i kinda got a tad lazy towards the end. but i'm glad u enjoyed it

thanks again for the review, 10, and your time in listening!!

This song is very varied compared to many of your others that I've heard. Perhaps a little too much variation. Not that variation is bad, just that some of the melodies were played too shortly and disappeared before they got time to absorb into my mind (did that make sense? :P)

This song has some really great melodies though. Some of my favorite parts is at 00:45, the drums in the background were nice. The melody starting at 0:59 was also good, but the sound seemed to clip a little in my speakers, so you should work on that. After this part, some really good melodies appeared.

To sum it up, nice melodies, but they could have lasted a bit longer. There were enough variation in this song to create a 5 minute piece, or even longer!

BallinFatty responds:

yea i noticed a part in there i think around 45?? it was short, merely due to the fact that i didnt like that melody. or the one after it. the best one was the one used throughout most of the song. but i needed some other melodies. hince the short ones. however, i did not notice a clipping, maybe it was too loud?? or my are not loud enough whatev lol, and yea u made sense earlier

anyways, thanks for the review, 9, and your time in listening :D

Nice ambient

Sounds sophisticated and intelligent. I just feel it needs a more recognizable melody. I've said this before though :P

The drums were funky, and the atmosphere is genuine, as usual!

If I were to make a documentary about space, I would defninitely use this piece. It couldn't have been better!

I can feel it in my spine!

Reminds me of Stevie Wonder. Very chilled out. The only thing I miss is some easily recognizable melodies to make the song more stand out, although I'm sure this is not that kind of a song. I still like it.

Nice song!

Nice song! I liked the synth sounds, but the organ sounds weren't as good. I see you have developed a bit since the last song I reviewed. This song had an organic and nice feel!

BallinFatty responds:

hey havent heard form u in a while. yea, i wasnt really too into this one. but the basslines were amazing. i dont like FL8 organs, so that one had to do. anyways, thanks for the review. hope to hear more songs from u soon

This is really good DnB! Cool effects, beat (amen break right?) and all. The main lead was good, reminds me of the soundtracks from Ratchet and Clank for some reason. Could have been a little bit more variation, but it's all right.

Was this made in LMMS?

Indeed, it was. I used Audacity to slice up the Amen Break, then got to work!

A decent song, cool drums, especially the cymbals. However, I didn't feel that it built up to something, it just had the same atmosphere all the time. But since it's a remix, it's probably not your fault. 8/10 4/5.

I've made a new song btw, review please? :=)

BallinFatty responds:

yea the actual song itself wasnt anything to special, but i figured since it seems like something no one else would remix, i did it

i will check out yur new song later and review. sadly i have to go to work at the moment :(
