It's a really good song, just miss something

Nice melodies, but I miss something different. I don't know what it is, I just feel like I've heard something exactly like this before. I don't know, but it's a good song, just try being more original and making something more different. Although I know it's hard when you only have the FL studio 8 demo with limited presets.

Wanna try my program? downloadable here: http://lmms.sf.net/

BallinFatty responds:

thanks

i'll give your program a try

glad you enjoyed it tho, and thanks for the review and 8!!

Good song!

Nice song! Atmospheric. Repetitive, but that's okay. The variations in the solo melody were good. The part from 1:56 was also nice.

I'd really like to hear you use some other and more alternate drum/beat samples, as I don't think you've used much else than the ordinary drum kit I usually hear in your songs. What do you say to that? Remember, variation is nice!

BallinFatty responds:

thanks. glad you enjoyed

the problem with the drums, i only have the FL studio 8 demo, so access to much else is limited.
it sucks, but y'know, i try the best i can with what i have. after a while, the same drums do get pretty old after a while

anyway, i do agree with variation. i gotta start keeping that in mind. thansk for pointing that out

thanks again for the review and 9!!

Remixing must be fun!

Is this the remix you talked about? It sounds awesome! I agree with you, a remix is supposed to be a little different. I've never heard the original song, but this version is great.

I've tired to remix before, but the result was always boring compared to the original song so I stopped.

Keep it up.

BallinFatty responds:

thanks. the first person to agree with my theory of remixes!!

i'm glad you liked it, and i bet if you kept trying, you'd be able to pull it off

my first remix wasnt that great either. its on newgrounds if you want to hear it. "Falling Blocks - Tetris Remix"

anyways, thanks for the 10 and i'm glad you enjoyed it

Variation, good presets!

The melody is quite an awesome one, and I like the presets used, except the violin symphony one that I think didn't fit in the song. And if I were very finicky, i would say that you overused the crash cymbal sound. Except from that, nice that you used so many different presets to build up the theme. One of your stronger songs!

BallinFatty responds:

thanks

i agree about the violin, but to me, it's all that sounded right. i tried so many other pads and strings, but that one just seemed to be the one

thanks for the feedback

Mysterious

This is so awesome and atmospheric! I agree with everything Xorii said. Keep it up.

BallinFatty responds:

thanks

wow i'm responding a month after your review

didnt notice it here

thanks for the 10 and agreeing

Great, just great!

This piece makes me feel very peaceful. Sounds very reflected and professional. A perfect ambient song!

Shan83 responds:

thank you man :)
I will check your music soon! ;D
the last track you posted was great :D

ghdha

Nice melody! I also think that you could have added some beats, and changed the presets a bit to make it sound 'right'. Awesome!

BallinFatty responds:

yea, i was messing with those alot throughout the song. that synthy sound that is heard through most of the song was a bell, but i muffed it up with the presets and dials and whatnot

but the beat was difficult and sounded bad, so i took it out. i do plan to remake it with beats, once i can get them to sound right, and then upload it here. a remix something like that

anyways, thanks for the 10 and i'm glad you liked it

Interesting

I actually liked this a lot! The title fits very good. I think it was a little too short, but I can imagine it as a background music for a level in a 2D side scroller, maybe where the theme of the level is a scientist lab. Try to build more on it and expand the different melodies.

Keep it up!

LuciousClump responds:

Actually That's what I was thinking I have this and four other songs that continue this , and I wanted to
use it as BG music for each level I'm trying to make it actually so I hope to put it in the portal soon

Pretty great

I like the melody, it sounds so great and mystical. The song also consists two different parts, not a very big change though, but one can hear the difference. Nice percussion but I think you could have used something else than clapping as "snare". Awesome that you are experimenting with solos!

I still like Moonlight of Dawn better because of its excellent melody. Actually I would give it (MoD) 10 points now if I could change my review!

BallinFatty responds:

AWESOME!! another 10

thanks for the review and 9.

about the percussion. the drum kit i used on that didnt have any good loud snares. i used 3 other snares throughout the original beat, but the clap was loudest so i used it as the main snare. if you listen closely, you should be able to hear the other snares. but that doesnt matter all that much. anyways, i'm glad you enjoyed it, and yes, solos are getting a lot easier for me now

thanks again

Great Vocals

This isn't really my genre, but I can still hear that this is of quality. This sounded just like something I could have heard on the radio (and that's positive right?)

Great vocals!

haha, yeah...its positive. Thank you for the review, especially since this isn't your genre. Very much appreciated.\m/
